Came and Went

The holiday season was very busy for us this year. The three of us flew to Michigan for Christmas and were there for 2 weeks. It always seems too short to me. We have so many people we want to see, and usually only get to see them once or twice if at all, which sucks. We try to make family a priority, but at this point in time, we have to try to keep things semi-normal for Emmett. The few days we had a lot going on Emmett got over stimulated and Eric and I payed for it with a crying baby up all night. So we did have to say no to people a few times, which is always hard. It gets harder and harder to leave at the end of the every trip.

I got to hang out with a few high school friends a few times. We all have little ones now and it was fun to see them all interact with each other. Eric got to see some of the guys as well. It was nice to see friends. We haven't made very many friends here and the ones we have made we don't see too often. So, it was nice to hang out with other adults.

Emmett changed a ton during the trip. He just starting to pull up on stuff before we left to using furniture and people to cruise around. He learned a ton of words too. Scott, ball, outside, down, crack (for cracker), and car are some of his new favorites. We took a walk yesterday, and we had to veer off the main road because with every car that past he was yelling "car car." It just got louder and louder. He was so excited I had to get him to calm down.

Unfortunately, as vacations go, it went too fast. We didn't feel we like we got to spend enough time with anyone really. We had a great time, but it just went too fast. Now, we are back to real life once again. I love my job, but I'd rather be home with my family. Emmett is having a hard time adjusting too. He had a touch of diarrhea and stomach cramps (we think). He has been extra clingy and going through his mommy stage again. Eric was seated by a sick man on one of our flights and has been sick all week. First with the flu (me, his mom, and sister all had it during vacation) and now he has a wicked cold. So it's been a rough week for everyone all the way around.

We're looking forward to getting back to normal and being healthy. We hope everyone had a restful holiday and was healthier than us.
