I am exhausted! So, I haven't been sleeping very well. Eric has a very bad cough, and he's been coughing a lot during the night time hours. This means Allison hasn't been sleeping. On top of that my students had a fun filled day of activity, which made me more tired.
Today is St. Nicholas Day. For those of you who don't know, St. Nicholas was a historical person who lived in Turkey. He inherited a vast fortune and lived in a poor village. St. Nicholas would leave money, clothes, and food at the doors of people in need. Anyway, St. Nicholas came to our school. He came in a helicopter and landed on our playground. All the kids got to shake his hand, received a gold coin, and got to look at the helicopter. Also, they got backpacks full of toys and goodies. So, I'm sure you can imagine the energy level of a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds. Plus, We are doing a unit after Christmas on a local author who wrote the book Little Black. With the program the stables do, they bring horses for the kids to come pet and get their book. In February, we go to the stables on a field trip. Again I'm sure you can imagine the energy level.
In addition, our visit from the State of Arizona is tomorrow. They keep track of what days we are on in our reading program and what we should be teaching each day. So, in order to be ready for them tomorrow I had to teach a certain lesson today to be ready for tommorrow. And holy crap! Try doing that on a day like today.
On top of that, I am trying to fight off whatever Eric has. I was trying my hardest not to lose my voice. I sound like a gruff old man whose smoked for several years, which SUCKS! And... I'm just plan tired.
Anywho, that is the latest from here.
