New Rocker

Emmett got his very own chair in the mail this week. On our vacation, we took a day and went to meet my Grandma and Aunt at a Cracker Barrel. My Grandma hadn't ever met Emmett, and we really wanted her to get to see him. So we drove 2.5 hours and my Aunt drove 2.5 hours and we met in the middle. Emmett did so great. We sat at our table for about 2 hours eating and chatting, and Emmett didn't seem to care. Between his colors, cars, food, and the little golf tee game they have on the tables he was perfectly content. However, when it was time to go he was done. Everyone wanted to look around in the store, use the bathroom, and stretch. He was having a temper tantrum by this point so we took him outside. The whole deck at the Cracker Barrel is lined with rockers. There was a child's rocker right next to the front door. Emmett climbed up in that thing and sat rocking for 20 minutes. He kept saying "mine mine" and if anyone else touched it he said "Noooo" and pushed their arms off. He was VERY mad when we took him out of it to leave.

So, a surprise came for him in the mail this week. His own rocker. I had it out and ready for him when he got up from his nap (that is why he looks drugged in the picture). I told him he had a surprise in the living room. He ran right up, climbed in, and watched an episode of Curious George. He loves to get up in it and rock or to just stand and push it. It great because he now has his own spot and I think it will be many years before he grows out of it.
