Getting Ready

I have less than 2 weeks until I have to report back to school. YUCK! Summer always seems to fly by so fast. I love my job, but I love staying home more, and it takes a lot to get my head & heart back into the job.

I will probably spend a few days in my classroom next week. It always takes so long for me to get organized and to get my head around what and how I want to do things this year. You wouldn't think it would change much year to year but it does. We are getting a new reading program, which changes some things. I already went to the training and have an understanding of the new components but it will be a lot of re-arranging and some new/additional organizational features in my room.

I am feeling overwhelmed and I haven't even started. A bonus though, we found a garage sale last weekend of a former teacher who was moving and leaving the profession. I got a ton of borders, posters, resources books, and other cool stuff. I told Eric it would have cost well over $50 at the teacher store for all I bought, and we only spent $11.25. Eric was very excited. He hates when I go to the teacher store.

My goals for the year are similar to last year. Don't let my job consume my life. Leave the house no later than 7:30am so I can get an extra hour of work done at school. Don't take work home on school nights and if I do take work home on the weekends limit it to only 1-2 hours. Something I can accomplish during Emmett's nap. I could easily spend 2-3 extra hours each night on school stuff and another 6-8hours on the weekend. I have done that. But I have decided that it's not worth missing the quality time with my family. They are defiantly top priority. So, there you go. I guess I am starting to get my head back into the game. Here's hoping for another good year :-)
