Quote of the week: Wednesday was a the first good day for me. I was in a very good mood. Maybe because it was a half day or maybe because it was our 3rd Anniversary. Anyway, I was joking around with some of the kids. Here's the conversation that followed.
7 year old child:"Mrs. Breuker your really happy today huh?"
Me: "What are you talking about? I'm happy every day."
7 year old child: (said in a serious mocking tone) "No your not!"
O from the mouth of babes how observant. Maybe today's events can shed some light into why it has been difficult for me to be "happy"
So, I'm working with a small group of kids on math. Some kids are goofy off. I am trying to stay on top of their behavior and help the kids in front of me. One boy stands between two tables and swings between them. He leans forward while swinging and falls forward onto the cement floor. He lands on his mouth. Knocks 2 front teeth out and cuts up his mouth badly. He said they were permanent teeth, they looked permanent to me and the nurse, but mom said they were baby and so she pulled them out. I hope she was right. Anyway, lots and lots of blood. Another boy of mine has been very cocky as of late. I ask him to stop or say no and he does it anyway often grinning at me. Today it came to a head. He received a talking to and then a time out. Within a half an hour...he took his scissors and cut another student. More blood. And in between the bloody incidences were tattle tales, name calling, hitting, rough housing, yelling, and screaming.
Lord give me patience. Only 12 more weeks til summer. So glad it's the weekend and Mommy and Emmett time.
