New School Year

The new school year has started. It's my 3rd year as 1st grade teacher. I'd like to think I am getting the hang of it all but there are always last minute curriculum changes either from the state (last year) or the district (this year). So it is just taking me a little more time to get my head wrapped around things. I am a self contained ELD (English Language Development) classroom this year. So far I have only 18 ( I have 3 more registered they just haven't showed up yet), but I expect my numbers will go up. I should be at 22-25 by Labor Day. We'll see. I like this group of kids. They seem pretty good. I have 10 boys (12 if you count the 2 who haven't showed yet). We'll see how that works out. I'm a tad nervous about that many boys. I have a couple of stinkers (1 boy and 1 girl) but its nothing I can't handle. Overall, I'm very excited about this group. Should be a good year.

Eric and I are picking up our crib on Sunday. The baby's room is done being painted. Eric is still working on the dresser. It's been stripped. It just needs to be sanded and repainted.

Eric is enjoying his time off from school right now. He starts his classes in 3 weeks. This should be his last semester at community college minus one class. If all goes as planned he should be starting NAU in January. I start my classes toward my reading endorsement in a week. Life is about to get very busy for us.

That's about it for us. Hope all is well for you.
