We have been very busy over the past two weeks. My college class has started and is keeping me very busy as is the responsibilities of my job. Eric has been working sales and covering vacations at work and has been working non stop. His classes have also started back up. Hopefully this is his last semester at the community college, and he can start NAU in January. He's working with a counselor right now to get that all figured out. We are also praying we can get some financial aide for him as well. Otherwise, we're not sure how to pay for it. So, if you need something extra to pray about...add that one in.
School has been good. I've broken the little vomiter I wrote about previously. I WIN! However, she has now come out of her shell and talks all the time and is a bit of a stinker. Go figure. I will take it over the drama every morning. My class over all is a lot more immature than previous years. That's been a challenge. They are also academically lower, so that's been taking some adjustment for me too. I have had some classically great quotes come from them. They are just so honest and frank. It's actually very refreshing since that doesn't happen too often with adults. I had a really good day yesterday with the kids and got an awesome one....well at least made Eric chuckle.
So, my belly popped out last week, and it is more obvious that I'm pregnant. I've had more than one kid come up and rub it and ask "Mrs. Breuker why is your tummy getting so fat?" This always makes me feel fat. I know that they don't mean anything by it, but it does. I reply with "remember there's a baby growing in there." They all also want to know when I'm bringing the baby in to see them. They don't have the whole concept yet. The best was last Friday, I had a doctors appointment in the A.M. and another teacher was covering while I was gone. When I get there they ask "Where's the baby? Didn't you bring it back from the doctors?" O-my class is awesome.
Anyway, yesterday we all came in to start calender. I decided to stand instead of the usually sitting just because I was more comfortable that way at the moment. This ensued some conversation before we started. "Why aren't you sitting Mrs. Breuker?" to which another answered for me"the baby's kicking you huh?" " Yup" I say. Then they ask if I have pictures of the baby. Obviously some of them have had pregnant mamas at home. I say yes. They want me to bring them etc.... Then my little boy (who can be a bit of a butt, but is totally growing on me) asks in a very sincere puzzled way how they get pictures of the baby if it's in my tummy. I explained about how they put special paddles on my tummy that can take pictures of your insides, and its called an ultra sound. This satisfies him for a second and he continued to look puzzled and deep in thought. Everyone else chimes in about o yeah their mom or Tia has had that. Then the boy looks at me and says "Yeah but Mrs. Breuker, how are they gonna get the baby out?" (classic!) To which I replied "They are going to do to it very carefully." Thankfully I didn't loose a beat on that one. Like 5 hands instantly shot up and I didn't want to know what they knew so I said "OK baby talk is done, time to start calender." I got some buts but was able to change subjects pretty quick. At least I have them trained enough to raise their hands and not yell out because who knows what they would have said. Can you imagine? Anyway, it made me chuckle and started out a very good Friday. They are so funny.
Anyway, here are some pictures Eric took this week. The fist one he made me pull my shirt tight so you could see my belly. I look more normal in the 2nd one. The last one is of our crib with the bedding. We are hoping to finish the dresser this weekend and maybe get the room done by next weekend. But we'll see.
