B is for Ball

We worked on B is for ball for our tot school. I am not teaching the letters to mastery. Just for exposure and fun.  We worked with the letter B for about two weeks. We colored pictures of balls, read books, and best of all played lots of games with balls. I wasn't the best at documenting everything, but I'll give you what I got.

Almost all the printables I used were from 1+1+1=1.

Emmett used his dot paints to find upper and lowercase Bs on the ball. He loves this activity. He doesn't just dot it once. He dots the letter like five times, hence the large blob on each letter.

I printed 2 sets of shapes. One I cut out and the other I left as a mat. Emmett matched up the shapes. I would name the shapes as he picked up the card and he would match them. He does really well with visual discrimination. He really liked this activity and did it multiple times.

Our color focus was green. I made a sensory bin for the first time (he is sitting in it). I put in dried split peas, green pom poms, green felt, green pipe cleaners, a green dinosaur, green bowl, and green cars. I also made measuring cups, toilet paper rolls, and spoons available to play with. This was out for 2 weeks, and he got it out often. The deal was he had to keep it on the quilt. He liked driving the cars through the peas and sliding them through the tube. He also liked hiding the pom poms in the peas and playing hide and seek. It was fun. I think I'll do sensory bins again.
 Magnet fun
Stringing pony beads on a pipe cleaner. I set him on my lap and showed him what to do. He then took it on himself to finish. He asked for another pipe cleaner. He brought it to our "island" (the quilt) and strung those on while sitting in his bin. He's a funny one.

He also did a lot of the other printables from the above web sites, but I wasn't very good about documenting it. He really liked coloring pictures of balls. We also finger painted a letter B for his wall. I put masking tape down in the shape of a b, he paints, it drys, and I peel the tape off. It's really cute. We played a lot with the balls. We spent most of our afternoons throwing bouncy balls at our garage door during Eli's nap. Why this was so fun I don't know, but he really loved it and looked forward to it. I think it was a favorite thing because it was one on one time with me and doing something he loves, throwing balls.

He had a lot of fun working on Bb for balls.
