Mr. Independent

Emmett is AWESOME! Let's just start there. He is so cool. But part of being two is asserting your independents. Some of the phrases we are hearing quite a lot right now are:

  1. I do it!

  2. I don't want help!

  3. My turn.

  4. I did it!

He very much wants to be like the big people (with some stuff). He sits with us at the table now. During Christmas break he started wanting to sit, stand, kneel in everyone elses chair but his own. He was throwing fits when we put him in the high chair. So, we washed it and put it up until the next one needs it. When he sits in a chair his head barely comes up over the table, but he loves it. And to my surprise its not any more messy than his high chair was and maybe a touch cleaner. We finally turned his car seat around to be forward facing. In order for 2 seats to fit in our little cars Emmett's had to be moved behind the drivers side and face forward to sit. He LOVES it. He also wants to get in and out of the car on his own now. Which is really nice. We just can't be in a hurry because it takes some time for him to climb up/down. But he's been so proud of himself. He announces every time "I did it by myself!" You can't help but smile when you see how good he feels about himself.

He peed in the potty again this week before bath. I think I was more excited than him. Prior to this he's be scoffing at sitting on the potty so it was a big deal. Definitely not at potty training stage yet, but we get excited when he tries or shows interest. He loves helping unload the dishwasher, wants to help make dinner, set the table, clean up, etc... He's becoming such a little boy vs. a baby or toddler. We are working on him being able to undress himself. He so not coordinated. He doesn't get it nor does he want too. Which is funny that at 2 he still doesn't want too. I remember by sisters girls stripping down and being naked in like 2 seconds when they were 18 months. But hey, I guess it depends on the kid. He is making effort to take off his own coat, but it's hilarious to watch because he twists around and pulls and tugs. Again, he's not coordinated, but he's getting it (sometimes).

Mixed in there we are having a TON of melt downs and temper tantrums because he's 2. If he doesn't get his way or we help him when he didn't want it or for whatever reason often uncontrollable crying ensues. But I suppose that's the way it goes too. The good, the bad, and the ugly are all mixed together right now. Regardless, I am really enjoying this stage of his life. Everything is just so cool to him. Watching things through his eyes is pretty sweet. Despite it all though, he still loves his cuddles with mommy and dad. He still a pretty gentle and sensitive spirit and overall well behaved. It's just been really fun lately.

Here are few other pictures we've taken recently that we like. Hope you all are doing well. :-)

Emmett and Grandpa Doug.

They look to be having fun!

Cuddles with mommy and baby.

I think he will miss my built in pillow.

PS...We are still prego. Start praying for this one to join us soon as we would like to avoid a repeat C-section.
