Spring in Full Swing
Bad job on me, I haven't blogged in month. I've been meaning too, but by 8:30pm when I finally get to the computer I'm too tired to think. I usually check e-mail, facebook, play a quick game, and then it's time to pack up lunches, diaper bags, and school bags for the morning. Then I get ready for bed. I have a 9:30 bed time. Just not enough hours to sit and relax and blog I suppose. Spring is busy here. It is sales season for Eric, which means he is gone more than usual. It also means instead of tackling household chores together (cleaning, yard work, laundry, grocery shopping) I'm flying solo for awhile. Yuck! He's had sales, the home show, and the next 10 days he's out at the fair until at least 10pm. I feel bad for him because it's a super long day. He goes to a store and works from 9am-4pm and then heads out to the fair. The earliest he leaves is 10pm. He's so exhausted and a bit homesick. I'm hoping he can hang out with us at least a little on Easter Sunday for church and maybe an egg hunt with Emmett, but he's supposed to be at the fair. Do people really want to spend Easter Sunday at the Fair? Seems weird to me but we regard it as a religious holiday not a commercial one so maybe it's not as important to others. After the fair he has another weekend sale. It looks like at least 3 weeks still until we have some semblance of a normalcy. On top of all that he's taking 2 classes right now. Poor Emmett doesn't understand and and is asking for Dad a lot. Last night at dinner he kept pointing to the garage saying "Dad? Dad?" I know he misses Eric, but he doesn't understand daddy is at work. He's used to his routine with mom and dad at night. Needless to say it will be a long and stressful month for all of us. In other news, Emmett was 17 months this week. He is now full fledged walking/running. Running can prove to be a bit hazardous sometimes, but I think that's just how it goes. He is talking like nobodies business. Favorite words seem to be: more, out, down, up, go, dad, mom, bubba (grandpa), eat, outside, slide, swing, ball, bottle, milk, cook (for cookies and crackers), water, and bap (bath). He's got a lot more but those are the ones he has the most mastery and usage of. He's like a little parrot echoing everything we say. It's very cute. He also knows a lot of his animal sounds which is super awesome to listen too. Sometimes he says e-i-e-i-o out of the blue and just wants you to sing the song. But with all this new found vocabulary and independence...we are slowly getting a glimpse of the terrible twos. Timeout is being used now, a few tantrums have occurred, and we've had a couple of stand-offs...which we have won but it took over 45 minutes. He's got a bit of a 'tude and is experimenting with testing us to see if we'll follow through and just how far we will let him go. It sort of sucks! I still know we have it easy though. It's not like it's happening all the time. It's still fairly isolated, just when he's feeling ornery. Hopefully it will stay random and occasional, but I have a feeling we won't be that lucky. I have about 5 and 1/2 weeks of school left which is awesome and overwhelming. There's always so much to do and so little time to do it. I LOVE my class this year which always makes the end of the year bitter sweet. You're excited to be done and have a break, but I'll be sad to them go. OK that's a month's worth of an update right? Until next time!
