I realized it's been about a month since I last posted. We haven't done anything super amazing like building a time machine or anything. We've just been doing the family thing, which never seems to get old. The highlights of the month are: my dad came to visit, Eli hit the 2 month mark, and we celebrated Easter.
Grandpa Doug came to visit which is always fun. Emmett was showered with attention, which he loves, and Eli got to meet his Grandpa. We went to the zoo, the children's museum, the air and space museum, and on a hike. We also hung out at home a lot. It was a great visit. Grandpa Doug took Emmett to the park and chased him all over. It was really cool because my dad was able to do so much more with Emmett than ever before. He's been working on his weight loss and getting healthy. He has lost just over 100lbs in 13 months. He's smaller than my husband. It's pretty amazing. We are so proud of him. He told me I don't need to worry about him getting heavy again because he all ready got rid of his fat clothes. He doesn't want to buy a new wardrobe again. That would be good enough motivation for me too!
Eli turned 2 months at the end of March. We took him to the doctor for his check-up and turns out we have a very healthy boy. He is right at the 50-60 percentile for weight and height. He seems so huge to us because Emmett was always below the 5th percentile, but we keep reminding ourselves that Eli is perfectly average. He weighed 12lbs 8oz and was 23in. long. He is absolutely perfect. He is such a smiler and "talks" all the time. He's just a happy boy!
We had a great Easter. We were really trying to work on the Easter story with Emmett. We're not too sure how much he understood. He kept telling us Easter was sad. So he might of got some of it. I feel like teaching our faith is really hard. We read the bible daily and talk to him about it. We pray with him and try to lead by example. I guess that's all we can do, but I don't always feel like he gets it. Anyway, we went to an Easter egg hunt at the park put on by a local church. He did so good. They could only get 10 eggs and he counted them and picked them up nicely. It was cool to see. We dyed eggs at home which he loved too. Almost all our eggs were reddish purple because Emmett wanted to put each egg in all the colors. Red seemed to be the strongest color. We went to church, had a big meal, and had our own backyard egg hunt. All in all great day!
Unfortunately, I have to return to work this coming week. BOO! Feeling very sad about it. I would really love to stay home with the boys. We would have to come into some serious money for that to happen. I HATE that I have to rely on someone else to care for the boys. I really like to do things myself. While I love being a school teacher, I love being a mom more, and hate that other people have to help me. Luckily, Jennifer our daycare provider, is amazing. She and her family adore Emmett. They've told me so multiple times and Emmett likes it there. I know they'll love Eli too. I mean who wouldn't. He's so cute. I really like and trust her. So, I know they're in the best hands which does make it easier. Hopefully, some day I will be able to stay at home with them.
Well that's what's going on with us. I included some pictures of the past month. Enjoy!
