We went to the pumpkin patch as a family this weekend. I was going to write about that until last night. I will write and post pictures about it later.
OK our evening schedule is dinner, bath, naked tummy time. Naked tummy time is now just play time since Emmett can move. We've done this since about 3 months because he gets a rash on his booty. Airing out is the best way to go. We've only had 2 peeing incidents in 8 months. We keep a waterproof pad out for him. He loves naked play time. I mean what baby doesn't.
Last night Emmett is is having naked play time. Eric is on the couch and I am laying down next to him. He's crawling around and sits down by me and is playing with his alphabet blocks. I am watching him and TV. I look over and notice a rainbow stream of pee. Emmett is watering his blocks with a very concentrated look. I look down and think why is he sitting on a toy turtle. But wait a minute we don't have a toy turtle. Emmett had made a giant deuce on the floor and was topping it off with a good old fashion whizz. Awesome! And of course he wasn't sitting all the way on his play mat but only half way. So, I had poop mostly on my carpet. It was not the solid hard kind that was easy to clean. O No! It was the incredibly mushy and way smelly. Eric scooped him up and cleaned him and got him diapered. I spent the next 30 minutes scrubbing the rug, starting laundry, and sanitizing blocks.
My dad had been warning us that Emmett would poop in the tub eventually. Eric looks at me and says. Well at least he didn't poop in the tub. What?! I totally would have prefered the tub. It would have been way easier to clean. Less stinky too. I had to pick poop up with a cloth diaper and rinse it in the toliet. Yuck! O how I wish it would have been in the tub.
Adventures in parenting are so fun. I called my dad amidst the clean-up. He laughed so hard he sounded like Santa. Being that he's raised 4 children he's seen most of this. He finds our different parenting issues quite humorous. Well, laughter like his is very infectious it made it all really funny. The best part was Emmett's face. He had this expression like "what?" It was so innocent and clueless. How can you get upset with that? You can't. So chalk another one up to life experience.
